welcoming
my name is amanda, and i love stories. this includes books, music, poetry, people. i love stories so much that i have decided to write—to live—one of my own. i will share parts of it here. call it: coming of age, adventure, memoir. call it... my cookbook for coping. unfinished romance. destructive prayer. the reflection in a blank page.
take care. be gentle. these words are concieved by a boisterous, beating thing. a thing that hurts. a thing that heals. here, i am trying to find the happy endings in the lessons and the change. i am holding out my hands. revealing the sad stories. letting them go. whether they fly or burst or drip or scream. i will write a happy ending.
dedication
my grandparents came to the united states from the philippines. they built a home, planted a garden, cultuvated a family. when i was born, they planted a sayote tree for me. for a long time, i overlooked any significance of the strange plant. now, i appreciate and am inspired by its metaphor for life and growth. thank you, lolo and lola, for the sayote tree. thank you for everything. you have inspired me and my life more than you may ever know.
